November is U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Month. That's why the National U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Month Committee is inviting teachers like you to join fellow educators across the nation in providing students with a new and interactive opportunity to celebrate this year's Veterans Day. The committee is sponsoring a program that partners U.S. Navy veterans who have served on aircraft carriers with elementary schools to talk about their life aboard a carrier, to teach lessons on the advances in flying, and to discuss the unique value of these complex and technologically advanced ships.
This unique program allows your students to learn from, celebrate, and honor a local veteran in a fun and unique way.
National U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier Month is filled with historic anniversaries in the innovation of Naval aviation. The important role aircraft carriers have played in defending our country and providing medical assistance, water, and food to the victims of disaster is one that deserves true accolades.

A great idea on so many levels. written by David Fassler, Saint Paul, MN, September 23, 2016
As a veteran of the US Navy myself, I think this is an excellent idea that not only promotes the "E" in STEM but is also a novel way to help raise the visibility of US veterans as we approach Veterans' Day. There are far, far more of us out there in the country than most people realize. This is a really neat idea!
