Association of American Educators Celebrates National School Choice Week 2024

Mission Viejo, CA – The Association of American Educators (AAE), a national, nonunion, professional association serving educators in all fifty states, celebrates the nation’s increasing support for all school types as we kick off National School Choice Week (NSCW) January 21 - 27, 2024. This annual week of awareness is also an opportunity to highlight and celebrate professional educators’ choices in where they serve their students. AAE salutes the educators who make many excellent educational options across the nation possible. AAE supports policies that advance the availability of these school options for students, parents, and educators including public district, public magnet, public charter, independent, parochial, private, virtual, and hybrid options.

“Ensuring all students have access to excellent education options is a core commitment of AAE as we strive to empower and support professional educators who enable students to achieve their full potential in all school environments,” said AAE’s executive director Colin Sharkey. “It’s clear that a variety of school options benefits not only students, but families and educators alike."

"Educators know that every child learns differently and not every learning environment is best suited for every student. Addressing students’ unique needs and learning goals is really what school choice is all about,” noted AAE senior director of policy and advocacy Noelani Kahapea.

AAE serves teachers, school staff, administrators, professors, and support staff in all school types throughout the country. During the week of January 21 - 27, 2024, AAE staff and members are hosting and participating in a variety of events such as school fairs, panel discussions, social media awareness campaigns, and photo, essay, and art contests, spotlighting school successes and the diverse educational opportunities that school choice offers every educator and student.

The Association of American Educators (AAE) is the largest national, nonunion, professional educator organization, advancing the profession by offering a modern approach to educator empowerment and advocacy—promoting professionalism, collaboration, and excellence without a partisan agenda. AAE is committed to a teaching profession that is student oriented, well respected, and personally fulfilling. AAE serves members in all fifty states and welcomes professionals from all education entities. Membership includes $2 million professional liability insurance, employment rights coverage, professional resources, and many other benefits. Classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, administrators, student teachers, university professors, and supporters can learn more at joinaae.org.
