National Employee Freedom Week: Association of American Educators Spearheads National Campaign to Promote Teacher Freedoms

Alexandria, VA–Today, the Association of American Educators (AAE) joins with 99 partner organizations in 42 states across the nation to celebrate National Employee Freedom Week (NEFW), a campaign dedicated to promoting employee rights of association. This is a 25% increase in participating organizations over last year, and the biggest coalition of partners yet!

Co-created by the Nevada Policy Research Institute (NPRI), NEFW is a national effort to inform union employees about the freedoms they have to opt out of union membership and let them make the decision that's best for them. Often that choice is freeing themselves from union membership, becoming an agency fee payer, or identifying as a religious/conscientious objector.

To celebrate, the Association of American Educators will be releasing the results of a member survey and sharing information with educators and stakeholders across the country. This nationwide effort will promote informed decision making and empower educators so that they can select an association that best matches their budget and beliefs.

"We are proud to be spearheading National Employee Freedom Week again this year," stated AAE Founder and President Gary Beckner. "AAE believes that educators, as college-educated professionals, can and will make choices that reflect their beliefs. This pro-teacher movement is a step in the right direction for teacher rights. We must trust our educators to make informed choices."

AAE and our state chapters have all endorsed this empowering week. More information is available at www.employeefreedomweek.com.
