Association of American Recognizes National Charter Schools Week

Alexandria, VA–May 4-10, 2014 is National Charter Schools Week. Every year students, teachers, parents, school leaders, and advocates from across the country mark this great week by recognizing these innovative public schools and the communities they serve.

In honor of the occasion, Association of American Educators Executive Director Gary Beckner released the following statement:

"This week, we are thrilled to officially recognize the public charter school movement and the heroic efforts involved in the creation of these ground-breaking schools. AAE joins hands with students, parents, and communities in thanking the teachers and leaders who make these innovative institutions a reality for so many in need.

As an organization serving this growing community, AAE celebrates these schools for producing life-changing results and options for both students and teachers alike. Charter schools are driving the education reform movement and consistently putting the needs of students first.

We encourage lawmakers on all levels to take an active stand in supporting public charter schools and their hard-working teachers and leaders. These modern schools are providing paths to a successful future for students and teachers around the country."
