Association of American Educators Recognizes Teacher Appreciation Week Alexandria, VA – Teacher Appreciation Week (May 4-8, 2014) has begun and National Teacher Day is just a day away. Across the country, thousands of communities are honoring local teachers and acknowledging the crucial role they play in making sure every student receives a quality education. In honor of this important week, Association of American Educators Executive Director Gary Beckner released the following statement: "Teachers are true heroes in our communities who, through their dedication to children, work millions of small miracles every day. Showing our teacher appreciation shouldn't be limited to this week and day, but establishing a particular time of the year for teacher appreciation helps us to remember how important teachers are in society. We want to thank teachers for all they do to go above and beyond every single day both inside the classroom and out.
