At Live Oak High School in California, several students were sent home for wearing shirts featuring American flags to school yesterday, Cinco de Mayo. The students, frustrated to be punished for displaying American flags, refused to turn their shirts inside out and were sent home to their equally frustrated parents. HT Joanne Jacobs A New Orleans high school student and Louisiana Army National Guard recruit was sent home for wearing an Indianapolis Colts jersey to school on "Black-and-Gold Day." The ACLU of Louisiana has cried foul. According to The Advocate, the student was not sent home for his own safety (a plausible excuse) but simply because he disobeyed the special "black and gold" dispensation of the school uniform.  Continue Reading...
