Member Mention: Educator Pursues Leadership Role with AAEF Scholarship

Ms. Julia Gumminger, a teacher at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth in Baltimore, Maryland, was awarded a scholarship by the Association of American Educators Foundation to help supplement the costs of attending graduate classes at the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School. The courses are part of a graduate program in management and will prepare Ms. Gumminger for a role in administration at her current school.

gumminger"As I continue to grow in my career at the Center for Talented Youth, I will need a solid foundation in budgeting, strategic planning, and management. Enrolling in the management track of the MBA program will provide me with the opportunity to learn these new skills," said Ms. Gumminger, a high school teacher. "This new knowledge, combined with my experience and studies in education will make me a well-rounded leader in the education programming field."

AAEF applauds the dedication that Ms. Gumminger has demonstrated in pursuing a leadership role at her elite school. Her coursework is sure to make an immediate impact with her students and school community at large. Fantastic job!

AAEF teacher scholarships and classroom grants are competitive awards available to all educators. Apply online or by mail to receive up to $500 for professional development or classroom materials. The fall deadline has passed, but be sure to mark your calendar for the spring date: March 1, 2012.
