Ms. Sherry Bergeron, a teacher at St. Mark's Episcopal Academy in Cocoa and an AAE member, was awarded an AAEF scholarship to attend the Florida Educational Technology Conference in Orlando next week. AAE National Membership Director Paula Jackson-Eaglin was on hand to deliver her certificate personally.

sbergeron"This opportunity will provide training in current technologies that I may take back to our school and share with others in efforts to enrich and maximize student learning at every level across the curriculum," said Ms. Bergeron, a second grade teacher. "Understanding and implementing researched-based practices and current applications with technology aligns with our school's vision, will aid students in reaching their learning potential, and will help me grow as a 21st century educator."

In these changing times, capitalizing on an opportunity to learn new technologies will definitely help her classroom as well as her school.

AAE would like to congratulate Sherry on her commitment to her students. The conference will prepare Sherry for the new technologies coming to the classroom. Great job!

Don't forget to apply for the next round of scholarship and grant opportunities. Teacher scholarships and classroom grants are competitive awards available to all educators. Apply online or by mail to receive up to $500 for professional development or classroom materials. The spring deadline is March 1, 2011.
