2017’s Top Teacher Podcasts
posted by: Melissa | September 26, 2017, 06:04 PM

I freely admit that I’m a podcast addict. I jumped onto the podcast train when they were just starting out and I was a young teacher in downtown DC. Facing a 45-minute ride on Metro and busses, podcasts were a way to use that time to unwind and keep my knowledge of the world fresh. Now, years later, podcasts accompany me when I have a long drive, do housework, or work out.

I’m not the only one, the number of podcasts have exploded over the past decade. Every imaginable niche topic has not just one, but multiple podcasts exploring their unique issues. Major news outlets produce podcasts as a way to keep in touch with their readers and viewers. Teaching has not been left behind the curve, either. Podcasts aimed at dealing with issues that teachers face are numerous and prolific. Below are the most popular in this genre:

Angela Watson’s Truth for Teachers: Truth for Teachers is consistently ranked in the top ten K-12 podcasts on iTunes. Each Sunday, a new 15-20-minute episode is released to speak life, encouragement, and truth into the minds and hearts of educators.

Cult of Pedagogy Podcast: On the podcast, Jennifer Gonzalez interviews educators, students, administrators and parents about the psychological and social dynamics of school, trade secrets, and other juicy things you’ll never learn in a textbook.

Talks with Teachers: Talks with Teachers brings you the stories and inspiration behind America's great English educators. Each episode features a master ELA/Literacy/English teacher sharing what worked, what didn't and the wisdom gained from their years of classroom experience.

Google Teacher Tribe Podcast: The Google Teacher Tribe Podcast is a weekly podcast designed to give K-12 educators practical ideas for using G Suite and other Google tools hosted by Matt Miller (Ditch That Textbook) and Kasey Bell (Shakeup Learning).

10 MT: The 10 Minute Teacher Show: Too busy for fresh ideas? Not anymore! The 10-Minute Teacher Podcast is here. Designed for busy teachers, each show is around 10 minutes long (usually less.) Every weekday, you’ll hear from remarkable educators around the world.

Middle School Matters: Middle School Matters is designed for Middle School Educators. They focus on the Middle School educators, providing news, conversation on relevant topics, and links to other great sites.

Hack Learning: Longtime teacher, bestselling author, and original education Hacker Mark Barnes is taking old school to task and giving you right now solutions for your biggest problems, in brief, no-nonsense episodes of the Hack Learning Podcast.

The Bedley Bros. EdChat: The education podcast dedicated to keeping you informed and connected to what's current and what works.
