Back-to-School time is upon us and once the year gets going, it’s too late to think about how you’re going to keep everything organized.  The wise use of technology can make all the difference.  So, before you step back into the classroom, take some time to check out these apps.

Class Dojo:  Class Dojo has been a must-get app for several years now.  It combines classroom discipline, records, and parent communication in one simple iOS app.  Teachers who have tried it in the past praise the app for its ability to aid in transparent and consistent classroom management, making it an especially good try for new teachers.

Teachers.io: Still using a paper planning book?  It’s time to move into the 21st century.  Teachers.io is an online planner with all of the flexibility  that you’re used to in your planning book.  Teachers.io gives you a week overview, manages your class schedule, and allows you to enter assignments and lessons.  If your students happen to use the myhomework app, the two will synchronize with each other and you’ll no longer have to worry about whether students copied homework down correctly.

PikmyKid:  Unlike the other apps listed, PikmyKid requires the entire school to sign up.  Why?  Because if they do, release time at your school will be revolutionized.  PikmyKid coordinates communication between parents, teachers, and students adding efficiency to the end-of-day routines.  The app helps coordinate car lines, keep track of when students have been picked up or been put on a bus, and tracks who parents are giving permission to pick their student up.

Pocket: Pocket is a way to keep and organize all of your reading, whether you’re on your PC, phone, or mobile device.  It’s simple and intuitive to use.  As you come across a site on the internet that you want to save for later, just click on the pocket icon in your browser and then pull it up again wherever you are.

Todoist:  Todoist is our personal favorite app for keeping track of your to-do list.  Todoist allows you to track tasks on your PC or mobile device.   Tasks can be set to repeat, or occur on a special date and can be color categorized.  Also, tasks can be divided into specialized lists.
