LAST CALL: AAE Foundation Scholarships & Grants
posted by: Ruthie | September 30, 2013, 05:58 PM

It's hard to believe that September is almost over and the 2013-2014 school year is in full swing! Teachers across the country have spent the past month getting to know their new students, fine tuning lesson plans, and working to create the perfect learning environments. If you have a new idea that needs some funding, we hope you'll consider applying for an AAE Foundation scholarship or classroom grant.

Below are some examples of what teachers have done with funding in years past:

Member Mention: Jennifer Uding Uses AAEF Grant to Improve STEM Learning
"As a second grade teacher in a gifted program, I am constantly seeking new ways to keep my students engaged and thinking creatively. With the grant money I received form the AAE Foundation I was able to purchase thousands of new LEGO bricks to create two new units that combine math, architecture, art, problem solving, and technology..."

Member Mention: Sandra Makielski Uses AAEF Grant For Art
"Seventh grade is usually not a favorite year of school. When I tell others that I teach seventh grade, the instinctual response is often: "Bless you." The good news is that I LOVE teaching seventh grade and I love making learning come alive for my students..."

Member Mention: BJ McChesney Teaches Science with Nonfiction Thanks to AAEF Grant
Ms. McChesney used her grant funds to purchase nonfiction books about biomes, which she had her students read in their literature circles. Reading nonfiction as literature was just the beginning. Not only were these books of high-interest for the students, they were also informative.

Apply today before the October 1st deadline.  If there’s a project that you want to fund or a conference you want to attend, now is the time to apply! This program is open to all teachers, even non-members.
